Kink test: find out what you’re into
This kink test ends with a character built from your answers, so every AI partner on KinkSim knows how to play you from the first line.
Free, no sign-up, about 4 minutes
One label was never going to cover you.
Twenty-nine bars cover your role, the pairs you fit, what you're into and how you like to play. Each gets its own score, so a Dominant with a high Masochist bar reads as exactly that, and you leave with a short brief on how a partner should handle you.
18+ only. We store your scores, not your answers, and the result stays private unless you share the link.

What you get at the end
The result page leads with your top three bars as a headline. Under it sits a short note on how a partner should handle you, one thing to lean into and one to leave alone, then every bar in full, Dominant and Submissive, the seven pairs, Praise, Degradation, Fetish wear and the rest, and a card you can send to anyone. Build a character from the result and the note becomes a proper partner brief written for whoever plays opposite them, a few lines in the imperative that end on a hard-no list built from the cards you swiped left. That brief travels with the character, so the explaining is done before the chat starts, and you can edit it by hand on their edit page.
What the kink test measures
The bars sit in four groups and each is scored on its own, which is how someone comes out a Switch who is mostly a Rope bunny. Tap any bar for what it means, what it looks like in a scene and how to tell if it's you.
Your role (3)
All three get a score, and the gap between Dominant and Submissive decides your lean.
You want to lead the scene, decide what happens and hold the other person to it.
You want to hand over control to someone you trust and follow where they take you.
You enjoy both sides of the power exchange and move between them with the right partner.
Role pairs (14)
Every pair gets a score on both sides, so a Switch can see which ones they'd rather top.
You enjoy a partner who pushes back, and you enjoy putting them back in their place even more.
You submit, eventually, but you make them earn it with attitude, teasing and defiance.
Giving pain or intensity to a willing partner is a big part of what turns you on.
Receiving pain or intensity from someone you trust is a big part of what turns you on.
You like tying people up, for the craft of it and for the control it gives you.
You like being tied, the helplessness of it and the attention of the person doing the tying.
You enjoy having someone who belongs to you, with a collar and rules and the care and correction that go with them.
You enjoy belonging to someone who keeps you, trains you, praises you and looks after you.
You enjoy putting a willing partner down with words and treatment, inside a scene they asked for.
Being talked down to, used or humiliated by the right person is a turn-on for you.
You want to chase, pin and take, and you'd rather growl than give a speech.
You want to be chased, caught and overpowered by someone who couldn't help themselves.
You want full authority, with protocol and obedience and a partner who is there to serve.
You want to serve completely, under rules and protocol, for someone who deserves it.
What you are into (8)
These score the activity itself, whichever side of it you're on.
Rope, cuffs, chains, anything that takes your movement away.
Sensation by hand or by tool, from spanking to paddles, floggers and crops.
Being told you're good, or telling them, gets you further than anything else.
Harsh words, embarrassment and being made small, all of it wanted and agreed to.
Edging, chastity and permission, where someone else decides when, or whether.
The outfit is half the scene, whether that's latex, leather, heels, a collar or a uniform.
Being watched, or watching, turns the heat up.
A story with parts to play, like teacher and student, boss and employee, or captor and captive.
How you play (4)
The dials at the end set these. They're ranges. A 90 on Protocol means you like it strict, and that's all it means.
How much structure you want, anywhere from casual and playful to titles, rules and positions.
Where you want it to happen, whether strictly behind closed doors or out where someone might notice.
Whether you want your known favourites or something you've never tried.
How this kink test compares
The classic 10-minute tests ask forty rows of “strongly agree” and stop at a list of percentages. This one adapts as it goes, so the second half only asks about what the first half left open, and it takes a good deal less of your evening.
It covers less ground too, and that was a choice. The bars here are the ones that come up in a scene, and a fair amount of what the long tests ask about never does. What you get instead is a card to share, and one tap that builds a character from your answers and lines up matches who play the other side.
Questions, answered
- Is the kink test free?
- Yes, and there's no account, email or card at any point. You take it, you get a result page with a link, and you keep it or send it on. KinkSim only asks you to sign up afterwards, if you want the result kept on an account, or you build a character from it and want them to have a profile photo.
- How long does the kink test take?
- About four minutes. The twelve scenes take around two minutes, the thirty-card deck about a minute and the four dials half a minute, and none of it is on a clock. Close the tab halfway and the same device can pick up where you stopped any time in the next day.
- What does the kink test measure?
- The test scores twenty-nine bars in four groups. Your role (Dominant, Submissive, Switch); seven role pairs scored on both sides (Brat and Brat tamer, Sadist and Masochist, Rigger and Rope bunny, Owner and Pet, Degrader and Degradee, Primal hunter and Primal prey, Master or Mistress and Slave); eight interests (bondage, impact, praise, degradation, denial, fetish wear, exhibition, scene roleplay); and four ways of playing (protocol, public, switching, novelty). Each bar runs 0 to 100 and is scored on its own, so a strong one never gets averaged away by a weak one.
- Is this a kink quiz or a kink personality test?
- Both, depending on which half you look at. You tap, swipe and slide your way through it, which is a quiz. What comes out is closer to a personality test, because it maps how you want to hold or hand over control and what you want to happen once you do, rather than handing you one kink and stopping there. It isn't a clinical instrument and doesn't pretend to be.
- How is the kink test scored?
- Every scene option, card and dial nudges two to four bars by a point or two. The first six scenes work out whether you lean dominant, submissive or neither, and the last six only ask about what that lean leaves open, so a submissive lean gets asked about being tied and a dominant lean about doing the tying. Scores are then normalised to the questions you saw, and both paths land on the same fair 0 to 100.
- Can I take the kink test if I have never done any of this?
- Yes, and a lot of people do. The scenes ask what you'd want rather than what you've done, and every card has a curious option for the things you can't say yes or no to yet. A profile full of curious answers still counts. It shows up as a high Novelty bar and a partner brief that tells them to bring new things in once it's going well.
- Is my kink test result private?
- Your result lives at a random link that search engines are told not to index. The server scores your answers and keeps the scores; the answers themselves aren't stored, apart from a fingerprint used to spot duplicates. Building a character reads them once more to write its persona and, again, doesn't keep them. Nothing is tied to an account unless you sign up later and choose to keep the result. Anyone you send the link to can see your bars, and anyone you don't, can't.
- What happens after the kink test?
- You land on your result page, which is your top three bars as a headline, the brief, all the bars and a share card, and two buttons do the rest. Build your character opens the KinkSim creator with dominance, openness and kinks already filled in from your answers. See who matches you lists characters who play the other side of your top roles. Ignore both if you like; the page still works as a plain link to send someone.
- Can I retake the kink test?
- As often as you like. Each run gets its own result link, so you can compare the Tuesday-night version of yourself with the Saturday one. A character you've already built keeps whichever profile you built them from, and you can edit their persona and partner brief by hand whenever you want.
- Which kinks are not in the test?
- There's no ageplay bar, no little bar and no card for either, and nothing illegal or outside KinkSim's content rules turns up as an option. Daddy and mommy appear only as honorific titles between adults inside scene copy. Findom shows up as a roleplay card and nothing more. Consensual non-consent is a card too, and it feeds the primal and scene-roleplay bars, always as agreed fiction.
- Do I need a partner to use my results?
- No. The partner brief is written for whoever plays opposite you, human or AI. Build a character from your result and every AI character they chat with reads it before their first line, so a match already knows whether to open with praise or with an order. If you do have a partner, sending them the link is a faster way to have the talk than the spreadsheet people keep recommending.
- Is the kink test 18+?
- Yes. KinkSim is an adult service and the test is part of it. The scenes deal in power more than in sex and none of them is graphic, but the site as a whole is adults only.
